National Aviary of Colombia, the largest in America

Aviario Nacional de Colombia, el más grande de América

Cartagena has the largest aviary in Latin America

The National Aviary of Colombia is one of the most famous places in the world and deserves a visit. You will see hundreds of birds in a large number of natural outdoor aviaries in South America. Colombia's national aviary park functions as an international conservation partner collaborating with zoos around the world to run captive breeding programs for endangered species.

This is home to more than 170 species of wild birds, some threatened or endangered. A place full of birds with beautiful colors, green areas and a site that promotes care for nature and contact with it.

Here the interaction with the birds is incredible, feel the sound, see them fly freely looking for their food and others meeting their partners. The harpy eagle is one of the strongest birds of prey in the world, and it shows in its imposing gaze, dark iris, dark plumage, and pronounced talons.

Continuing along the pedestrian path we observe an exuberant number of birds. There are Caribbean toucans, cocks of the rock, blue piqui paujil, all exotic, after a few steps I reach the Coastal Zone, the lake of flamingos. These birds seem to flirt with visitors by posing very glamorously for the camera.

It's time to explore the desert, an ecosystem with the arid atmosphere typical of this place. Among its 18 species are parakeets and woodpeckers, which steal anyone's heart with their graceful behavior.
